Although online casino gambling is very successful worldwide, not all governments are happy about their citizens practicing online gambling. The main concern is that online casino sites are too easy to access, and -unlike land based casino houses- it is easier to get carried away. Other are worried that local currency will travel to foreign countries as citizens lose at international online casino sites. Either way, Taiwan is one of those countries were online gambling is still banned by law.
Taiwan's police are reporting that the biggest online casino ring in the country has been shutdown. The investigation that started late last year took down an unnamed website that offered online casino services. The site raked over $45 million during the past six months alone, making it the biggest online casino ring ever in Taiwan. During the operation, the Taiwan police arrested 12 individuals that are suspected in running and operating the gambling site. Authorities did not want to take any chances with the bust and more than 120 police officers participated in the operation.
Such rings, which operate at countries where online casino gambling is illegal, are not what the industry is striving for. All the big names in the online casino industry are well known and respected firms that all operate under local and international laws. Once the United States authorities decided that online gambling is banned, most of the industry has left the US and is now focusing on Europe. Make sure you play at known sites and you are in for an exciting and legal online casino experience.
