Hurrah's Rincon has a vast number of casino games, more than 1,600 slot machines, a 12 table poker room and various table games. Brendan O'Kane, the operations manager said that the energy efficiency program not only reduces their greenhouse gas emissions but also saves the resort about $200,00 on the annual energy bill.
Lime Energy is the company who installed light emitting diode (LED) technology at Harrah's Rincon. LED's now provide lighting in the venue's elevators, downlights and outdoor signs. It reduces the annual energy output by about 2 million kilowatt-hours which reduces the casino's carbon emissions drastically.
LED lighting uses approx 1/7th to 1/10th the energy of normal lighting and best of all it lasts 10 times longer. Brendan O'Kane says that Harrah's Rincon wanted to reduce their energy output without affecting their guests' experience and with the new lighting technology they have exceeded their goal.
There is no visible difference between the quality of normal lighting and that of LED in fact LED can be adjusted to the brightness required, furthermore, the color of light can be controlled as well. Customers will be pleased to know that they too are making a contribution to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by playing casino games in casinos using the more environmentally friendly LED systems.
