“The purpose of this meeting is to legitimate poker” says Harvard University Law School professor Charles Nesson. “We want to show everyone that statistically, philosophically and legally poker, or online poker for what matters, is a game of skill, not chance”. These kind of debate are becoming lately more prevalent, since the US Congress passed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, which banned the use of credit card at the various online gambling sites. Now, poker players all around the world want to show everyone that what applies to other online casino games shouldn’t apply to online poker, as they claim that those are two different kinds of games.

The online poker enthusiats claim that poker simply isn’t a game of chance, like most of the other online casino games. As an example, they highlight the fact that the Department of Labor recognized last year "professional poker player" as an official occupation. If that’s not enough, they claim that even Antonin Scalia, the second most senior Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, regularly plays poker. The battle is surely far from over, but poker players around the US hope to convince everyone that their hobby is not just a matter of luck.
