How much does a really good domain name is really worth ? According to recent publications – a lot! One of the leading online casino portals has recently revealed that the moniker.com silent auction for online gambling related domain names has managed to raise more than 1.3 million dollars, a really nice sum by all means. Not only that, but it seems as that sum could climb substantially in the next couple of days, as the real big domain name, “poker.com”, still hasn’t been sold. Although nothing has been made official yet, sources have said that an offer close to 30 million dollars has been made for that attractive domain, but there are still administrative issues that need to be resolved first
According to the online casino portal report, the big winner of the night was the catchy domain “scores.com”, which managed to fetch 1.2 million dollars. Other interesting domains, such as “slots.com”, were sold for around $100,000, which seems to be quite a good deal if comparing it to the prior one. As stated above, the “heavy player” – “poker.com”, appears to be still available, but surely that will change in the next days.
Needless to be said, getting such a domain – even if you paid hefty sums of money – is a long-term investment. Good domain names are hard to find, as they are very powerful consumer attractors, which is exactly what all online casino sites are looking for. It may sound weird at first that a company is willing to pay millions of dollars just for a catchy domain name, but all of that money quickly gets transformed into profits if that exact name starts bringing new customers into the site
