Winning money at the online casino is always nice but only as long as you do it by playing fair and square. One person who didn’t really do that, Robert Marshall from Fort Worth Texas, will get to know soon a prison from pretty close, after he was sentences this week to 10 years of imprisonment for an Internet gambling-related scam that hurt 41 elderly and retired victims. In addition, Marshall will have to pay-back $915,000, which will come from his scam’s gains.

According to the prosecutors, Marshall founded a group of companies under the title ECM Group, which was associated to some online casino sites, and managed to con at least 41 people, who lost their money to him. By telling those people that he is an affiliate that receives a percentage of the losses of gamblers in those online gambling sites, Marshall managed to sell investors $10,000 shares. According to the authorities, even though he perfectly knew that his business model generated less than a thousand dollars in total for the company, Marshall told several told to the potential investors that the company was successful and even mailed them false financial reports.

As you can clearly see from this case, cheating and trying to deceive people may work for a certain amount of time, but most chances are that you’ll eventually get caught. It may be a much wiser idea to keep it clean and just try to have fun while playing at the online casino, and maybe even win some money while doing it. It might sound much less adventurous than Marshall’s plan, but it’s almost much more legal.
