The British government has already understood it, most of the people around the US got it too, but it seems as the US congress itself refuses to admit that they’ve made a mistake when they decided to pass the controversial Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). Ever since that anti-online casino law was passed, almost a year ago now, many business leaders, analysts and experts in the field came out strongly against it, claiming that the right way to treat the online gambling industry was by regulating it, not banning it. Even though some time has passed, the US media still refuses to let it go and this week it was Newsday that released an editorial, shouting: “Time to regulate online gambling”.
"Washington may be left with only two choices: Allow Americans to wager online with offshore casinos or ban all Internet gambling - including popular pastimes like fantasy sports leagues and off-track betting on horses” said the article on one of the largest US newspapers. That argument has already been brought up in the past by many online casino fans, claiming that their past time is being treated differently than others just because it’s hurting the big Las Vegas’ casinos revenues
While there’s no doubt that articles like the last one certainly benefit the US online gambling industry, no one seems to know when, and if, a regulation process will come into action. The fans, of course, are all in favor, but in politics that’s not always enough. Hopefully, this time it will be the common sense that emerges victorious.
