Since the US legislation of the “Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act”, the global map of online gambling has been changing constantly. Online casino companies have been looking for new potential markets for them to keep growing, with Asia being one of the top candidates. Cryptologic, one of the leading online casino software companies, has been moving in that direction too and it keeps doing it, after signing an agreement to acquire a financial interest in 568 Network Inc., a developer and distributor of online casual games to the Chinese market. Being the most populated country on earth, there’s probably no better place to get a grip on than China, which is exactly what Crytpologic is trying to do.
“Our main goal is to be the online casino industry leaders in Asia, just like we’re in Europe” says Javaid Aziz, CryptoLogic's president and CEO. As part of this new agreement, the company will be able to produce casual, skill-based games for the enormous Chinese market, including different versions of Mahjong, online pool and some Chinese variations of poker.
Even though this latest agreement might be a very important milestone for the online casino software provider, they will have to adapt themselves quickly to the demands of this new market. While China is considered one of the fastest growing online gambling markets worldwide, the player’s mentality there is totally different from what Cryptologic is accustomed to. The company’s new games will have to reflect the local culture and tradition, which should make their job even more challenging, but also much more rewarding.
