Online casino sportsbetting might soon become a legalized activity in Canada, following the Atlantic Lottery Corporation’s recently shown interest in introducing casino sportsbetting to its repertoire of services.

The Atlantic Lottery Corporation is responsible for managing all gambling in Canada’s East, and is currently investigating the option of bringing in legalized casino sportsbetting to its lottery system and thus also the east side of the country.

According to an attorney who is also a gambling law expert in Canada, Michael Lipton, adding casino sportsbetting to Eastern Canada’s lottery system could happen without even needing to change any of its existing laws. He explicated that the only possible restrictions to the introduction of sportsbetting would be that international patrons whose countries denied online casino sportsbetting would be banned, and that other regions in Canada would have to first grant their citizens permission to pursue online sportsbetting.

The Atlantic Lottery Corporation’s current investigation into the matter is currently delving on finding an appropriate software provider and admin staff. The company’s decision to even begin the investigation was based on the belief that in order to remain “relevant” to players, they must be provided with what they want – and today, online casino gambling and sportsbetting lists high amongst their preferences!

Despite that some legislators believe that the legalization of online casino sportsbetting may lead to an increase in gambling addictions, it has recently been proven by scientists that online gambling is less harmful than land-based gambling. Lipton has estimated that the introduction of legalized sportsbetting in East Canada could generate up to $400 million a year.
